Power Rogers, LLP attorney Devon C. Bruce filed a lawsuit against Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. on behalf of Michael Taylor who was injured after his Samsung Galaxy Note 7 burst into flames.
According to Taylor, he woke up to his phone shooting out flames one morning in mid-August. The flames caused burns ranging from first to third-degree across his legs, and the lawsuit seeks monetary damages for the scarring, economic loss, pain, and suffering caused by the incident. Bruce commented on the incident, saying that:
<blockquote> “Samsung clearly introduced a highly dangerous product into the market without proper design and quality control. This should never have happened.” </blockquote>
