‘All The Queen’s Horses’, a documentary examining the biggest fraud in municipal history premiered this week for a two-week run at the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago, IL.

Financial and medical fraud both require specialized expertise to navigate a medical malpractice claim or fraud lawsuit.

Rita Crundwell was the comptroller and treasurer of Dixon, a small city in Illinois, for more than 20 years. During that time, she embezzled more than $53 million dollars, and used the money to build one of the largest quarter horse breeding empires in the United States. She was finally exposed in 2012 when she was arrested by the FBI.

Power Rogers partner Devon Bruce successfully represented the City of Dixon in their case against CliftonLarsonAllen LLP, Fifth Third Bank, and Janis Card Associates for their negligence in failing to discover the theft during their annual audits, securing a $40 million settlement on top of the money and assets returned to the city after Crundwell’s arrest.
